West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination - WBJEE 2018

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board conducts the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination or WBJEE for admission to various undergraduate courses in technology, engineering, pharmacy, architecture and medicine courses in government colleges, universities and self-financing institutes in West Bengal.

  • Date of examination: 18 and 19 April, 2018
  • Submission of online form: Available from 18 December, 2017 - 25 January, 2018

WBJEE 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian citizen to be eligible to apply for WBJEE 2018.
Educational Qualification: The minimum qualification of the candidates must be 10 2 of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or other equivalent examination. Those students who are appearing for the 10 2 examination in 2018 are also eligible to appear for WBJEE 2018.

For Engineering/Technology (except Marine Engineering):

The candidates must score a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in 10 2 or other equivalent examination. In English they should score 30% and also should get pass marks in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, English and Vernacular (or any other fifth subject).

However, if the candidate is applying for Jadavpur University, then he/she must obtain a minimum of 60% aggregate marks and pass individually in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM).

The minimum age limit of the candidates applying for Engineering/Technology courses is 17 years as on December 31st 2015.

For Marine Engineering:

The candidates must atleast score 60% aggregate marks in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics in 10 2 examination and in English they should score 50% marks in 10th and 12th Standard. They should also pass in the individual papers such as Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, English and Vernacular (or another fifth subject).
The minimum age limit of the candidates applying for Marine Engineering courses is 17 years as on December 31st 2015 and the maximum age limit is 25 years as on December 7th, 2015.

For Architecture:

The eligibility requirements for architecture are same as that of engineering/technology, however along with the eligibility criteria mentioned above, the candidate should also qualifying in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA), conducted by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi.

For Pharmacy:

The candidates must score a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in 10 2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biotechnology/Biology /a Technical Vocational Subject (Engineering Drawing/Computer Science) as their subjects. For candidates belonging to the reserved category (SC/ST/PwD/OBC) must secure 40% marks. All candidates must score atleast 30% marks in English.

However, if the candidate is applying for Jadavpur University, then he/she must obtain a minimum of 60% aggregate marks and pass individually in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM).

For Medical/ Dental:

The candidate must score a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST and 45% for OBC) in PCB together and should get 30% marks in English. They should pass 10 2 with individual pass marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. Additionally, in WBJEEM 2018 the candidate need to score at least 50 percentile marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences taken together (40 percentile for SC/ST candidates and 45 percentile for OBC-A, OBC-B candidates).

The minimum age limit of the candidates applying for Medical/Dental courses is 17 years as on December 31st 2015. There is no upper age limit.

Domicile Requirements: For the candidates applying for government engineering/technical colleges, they should be a resident of West Bengal.

WBJEE 2018 Application Form

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board invites application for admission to various undergraduate courses in engineering, technical and medicine in government colleges, universities and self-financing institutes in West Bengal for the academic session 2017-2018, on the basis of WBJEE 2018. The candidates should be a citizen of India to be eligible to apply for WBJEE 2018.

Mode of payment for WEBJEE 2018

  • After filling out the application form, the candidates can use the Allahabad Bank e-Challan or e-Post Office for the payment of WBJEE 2018 application fees.

  • For e-Challan, you will have to select "Allahabad Bank e-Challan" and take the printout to a Core Banking Service (CBS) facility enabled Branch of the Bank, where you can complete your payment.

  • After the payment is complete, the candidate needs to upload the details of the e-Challan to the system. Hence, once the details are uploaded, the Confirmation Page will be generated.
For the e-Post Office mode, select "e-Post Office" and you will receive a receipt to show it to the nearest e-Post Office in West Bengal. Therefore, once the payment is made, it should be uploaded to the system and hence the confirmation Page will then be created.

How to Apply for WBJEE 2018

The candidates are required to fill up online application form for WBJEE 2018. After the filling up the application form, the fees must be paid through a bank Challan or e-Post Office and once the payment is made successfully, the confirmation page for the candidates will then get created. The candidates are required to mail the Confirmation Page, Top Sheet and other enclosures and signatures by speed post to AQ-

It is very important for the candidate to keep in mind the important dates for West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE) 2018.

Allotment of Examination Centre
The exam center for WBJEE 2018 will be allotted to the candidate as declared in the application form. Hence, the candidates cannot change the exam center.

WBJEE 2018 Exam Pattern

The WBJEE 2018 question paper will have Multiple Choice Questions having four options, with one correct answer. It will have three categories which are divided as follows:

Category 1:
(a) Out of the four choices, only one option is correct carrying 1 mark each.
(b) There is a negative marking of 25% of the full mark, i.e.for every wrong answer.
(c) If the candidate marks more than one option as the correct answer in the OMR sheet, then that particular answer will be treated as incorrect and marks will be deducted.
Mathematics: 60x1 mark each
Biological Sciences: 90x1 mark each
Physics: 30x1 mark each
Chemistry: 30x1 mark each

Category 2:
(a) Out of the four choices, only one option is correct carrying 2 marks each.
(b) There is a negative marking of 25% of the full mark, i.e. 1/2, for every wrong answer.
(c) If the candidate marks more than one option as the correct answer in the OMR sheet, then that particular answer will be treated as incorrect and marks will be deducted.
Mathematics: 10x2 marks each
Biological Sciences: 15x2 marks each
Physics: 5x2 marks each
Chemistry: 5x2 marks each

Category 3:
(a) Out of the four choices, there may be more than one correct answer carrying 2 marks each.
(b) Zero marks will be given to that combination of answers which will contain one or more incorrect responses.
(c) There will be no negative markings for partially correct responses and the marks awarded will be 2 x the no. of correct responses or the marks will be given to the total no. of correct answers.
Mathematics: 10x2 marks each
Biological Sciences: 15x2 marks each
Physics: 5x2 marks each
Chemistry: 5x2 marks each
