JEE (Advanced) 2018 - Aptitude Test for B.Arch.
For the five year architecture degree programmes (Bachelor of Architecture or B.Arch.) which is offered by IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee, the candidates have to appear for an Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT). One can only appear for AAT only if the student has secured a rank in the JEE Advanced 2018
The registration for AAT is done online after the JEE Advanced results are announced. When you check your JEE Advanced results, there you will see a link for AAT registration. The candidates should note that the link for Online application of Architecture Aptitude Test will only remain active for 2 days and hence the candidates are advised to remain prepared for the registration process. The candidates can use the same admit card which they have used while appearing for JEE Advanced. It is to be noted that the seat allotment for architecture seats are done on the basis of all India Rank in the JEE (Advanced).

The AAT has one paper with duration of 3 hours and the question paper medium is English. The architecture aptitude test (AAT) syllabus includes:
Freehand DrawingThe freehand drawing includes simple drawing which depicts a total object in its right proportion and form, relative location, surface texture and details of its component parts in appropriate scale. It includes day-to-day life or common domestic usable objects like equipment, furniture, etc.
Geometrical DrawingVarious geometrical drawing that include circles, polygons, quadrilaterals, triangles, angles, lines, etc. It also includes elevation (front or side views) study of plan (top view) of some solid objects like splayed surface holders, cubes, cylinders, cones, prisms, etc.
Three-Dimensional PerceptionAppreciation and understanding of three-dimensional forms with visualization, volume and orientation, colour, building elements through structuring of various objects in memory.
Imagination and Aesthetic SensitivityComposition exercise with given elements, context mapping, creativity check through innovative uncommon test with familiar objects, application or sense of colour grouping.
Architectural AwarenessGeneral awareness about the famous architectural creations, both international and national, places and personalities (architects, designers) in the related domain.
Note: Candidates must bring geometry box sets (ruler, compass, etc.), pencils, Sharpener, erasers and colored pencils or crayons for the B.Arch. aptitude test.
